Library High St. 2001

The library was opened in November 1909. The land was given by Lady Harriet Wantage (wife of Baron Wantage), who owned in the late 19th century and early 20th century large amounts of land in Irchester. The money for building the library was given by Andrew Carnegie the Steel Magnate. The library was opened by Sir Edward Chandos Lady K.C. (1832-1915), Consul to the Speaker of the House of Commons, who rented Knuston Hall from the Arkwright Trustees from 1903 until his death in 1915.
