Parson’s Hall 2001

Parsons Hall was built in 1952 as the Staff Canteen for Edward Parsons & Son Ltd. This company made pork pies, sausages, meat pies etc. as their main produce. However, over the years they have also been salt dealer, coal merchants, railway contractors, beer retailers, farmers, mat makers, grocery, provisions. The business was founded in the 19th century by Thomas Parsons (died 1886), who in turn passed the business over to his son Edward (1845-1922), who firmly established the business. Edward introduced his son Frank (1884-1966) into the business and likewise Frank, introduced his two sons Dick and Ted as managers. In the early 1960s the company was sold to Bowyers of Bristol and they closed the company in 1966. The business was very good to villagers over the years, including providing Parsons Hall for any village events. After the business was sold Parsons Hall became a Bingo Hall, Handbag Factory and has been for roughly the last 20 years home of the Irchester Youth Club.
